Nearly 60 golfers including New Zealand Ambassador Reuben Levermore, PNZBC Board members, officials from the Embassies of New Zealand, Australia and Canada turned out for the PNZBC Waitangi Day Golf Tournament held last 3 February at the Philippine Navy Golf Club, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
The annual tournament which has been running for more than a decade signaled the start of New Zealand's Waitangi Day festivities in the Philippines.
This year's Over-all Champion was Keith Halford while last year's champion Nat Mackay of Immigration New Zealand won the Lowest Gross award. Class A Champion: Willie Harrison, Class A Runner-up: Quentin Vanmeerbeeck, Class B Champion: Russel Dempsey, Class B Runner-up: Harold Wolf, Class C Champion: Anthony Weymouth and Class C Runner-up: Colin Campbell and the Ladies Divison Champion: Elly Saunders.
The winners each took home trophies from ENDEC. The golfers each received golf umbrellas from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and Php1500 gift certificates from Slimmers World. Exciting raffle prizes were also given out to the lucky golfers including 2 round trip Zest Air tickets to any Philippine destination as the grand prize. Other major prizes were hotel accommodations, New Zealand wine and restaurant gift certificates.
